Auchan plans to build store in northwest Hungary

French retailer Auchan plans to build a store on a plot it owns in the city of Győr (NW Hungary), the news portal kisalfold.hu reported on Wednesday.
The portal said that the new store would employ 500 people.
Auchan Communications Director Katalin Gillemot told kisalfold.hu that the company has received no information other than that published in the media regarding the government’s three-year ban beginning next year on construction of new commercial buildings of over 300 square meters in area.
National Economy Minister György Matolcsy will have the authority to issue exemptions on the ban, decided by the government last week, the portal noted.
