Aldi Marks 15 Years in Hungary

German-owned discount chain Aldi marked the 15th anniversary of its first store opening in Hungary on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Aldi noted that it now has 164 stores in 87 cities and towns around the country. It has more than 6,000 people on payroll.
The company has plowed HUF 240 bln into its business in Hungary, including HUF 188 bln in real estate. In the last year alone, Aldi has created over 1,300 positions, at its stores and warehouses, and in IT.
Aldi now works with over 260 local suppliers whose products account for around 60% of shelf stock. All of the retailer's fresh, unprocessed poultry, pork, and beef are from local farms.
Aldi Magyarország had net sales revenue of HUF 315 bln in 2021, public records show.
