1st Primark Store in Hungary Opens

International fashion retailer Primark today opened its first store in Hungary at the Arena Mall in Budapest, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The store opening in Hungary is the result of an investment of more than EUR 8 million and has created more than 180 jobs in the region. The opening was attended by the Ambassador of Ireland to Hungary, Ragnar Almqvist, who welcomed Primark to the Hungarian market.
Primark's store opening in Budapest is a significant milestone in the company's global expansion, as Hungary is the company's 17th market worldwide and sixth in Central and Eastern Europe.
With over 3,100 square meters of space, the Primark store in the Arena Mall is the first to offer Primark's unique pieces, the latest fashion trends, and everyday essentials to Hungarian shoppers. The store offers a wide range of products in womenswear, menswear, children's wear, beauty, lifestyle and homeware. From fashionable swimwear and beachwear to the brand's latest summer range, suits, and accessories, shoppers can find the pieces they like best.
In the new store, Primark will continue to focus on offering more sustainable fashion at affordable prices. Already 55% of its clothes are made using recycled or more sustainably sourced materials and the brand has pledged to increase this to 100% by 2030.
Maciej Podwojski, Primark's head of Central and Eastern Europe, said, "We are celebrating five years of Primark in Central and Eastern Europe, and following the opening of our Ljubljana store in June 2019, we are delighted to now be operating in six markets, 13 stores and significant growth potential in the region. We look forward to welcoming our customers to our beautiful new store, where we will be showcasing our unique Primark range for the first time in Hungary. I would like to thank all my colleagues who have worked tirelessly to prepare the opening of the store and, on behalf of Primark, I would also like to express my appreciation to the Embassy representatives and local authorities for the warm welcome and support we have received so far."
Ragnar Almqvist, Ireland's Ambassador to Hungary, Kosovo and Montenegro, added: "Primark is known worldwide for the quality and exceptional value of its products. But for me, as for my grandmother, Primark's greatest strength is its values. The friendly welcome. The professionalism of their people. These are values that are shared by Irish and Hungarians alike."
In addition to the Budapest opening, Primark will continue its ambitious expansion plans in the Central and Eastern European region, opening stores in Timisoara, Bydgoszcz, Poland, and a second store in Prague later this year.
