Special mandate to coordinate Audi investment talks

Hungary's government commissioner for foreign trade and investment Zsolt Becsey has been given a special mandate to coordinate talks on German carmaker Audi's investments in Hungary, Becsey told MTI late Wednesday, confirming a report by internet portal origo.hu.
Becsey said the prime minister specified his mandates from time to time.
Audi recently announced an almost €1 billion investment at its base in Győr (NW Hungary) that will go on line in the second half of 2013.
Press reports suggest that the government is in talks with the company on building logistics capacity for the expansion at the port of Gönyű, rather than at the base in Győr. Thomas Faustmann, who heads Audi's unit in Hungary, said a week ago that Gönyű had "a good chance" of becoming the site of the company's new logistics base, MTI reported.
Becsey said at the end of February that the government would "ensure all conditions" for the base's construction in Gönyű.
