Russian carrier may invest in Hungarian airfield
A Russian airline is considering investing in Hungary's Taszár airfield, a former military base the county municipality plans to turn into a logistics center, national daily Magyar Nemzet reported citing a government development official.
The paper did not name the Russian company, but said it carries about two million passengers a year and has a high number of airplanes. A representative from the company met with István Kolber, a government official responsible for regional development, this week and inspected the base, the newspaper said. The government plans to outline plans to create a logistics center in Taszár and the region around it over the next few days, Magyar Nemzet said. Government leaders discussed the plan with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Budapest last February.
