Reál Hungária revenue increases 17%

Hungarian-owned supermarket chain Reál Hungária Rt had revenue of Ft 281.6 billion in 2005, 17% more than in the previous year, CEO Tibor Kujbus said yesterday.

Reál Hungária controls 6%-7% of the market in Hungary, putting it in 5th or 6th place, Kujbus said. In 2006, Reál Hungária expects a 10%-15% sales increase, he said. Reál Hungária includes among its units 590 Real Élelmiszer supermarkets and 1,700 ReálPONT shops. Reál Hungária has initiated a partnership with Slovakia's Slovpos chain of supermarkets and wants to expand in Romania as well.
