Nokia to increase Budapest staff

Mobile phone manufacturer Nokia will increase the number of its staff at the company's Budapest R&D center, Mika Vehvilainen, head of Nokia's networks business, told daily Világgazdaság on a visit to Hungary. However, he declined to specify how many new jobs would be added to the center's current workforce of 400. The move is part of Nokia's plan to expand the scope of its Hungarian R&D operation in an effort to explore new technologies such as voice-to-text messaging. Nokia runs R&D centers in 12 countries, employs a total of 20,000 and spent around Ft 3.7 billion on research and development during the past two years.
