The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) today said it had partially suspended the operating license of Hungária Értékpapír due to irregularities, and put an oversight commissioner in charge of the investment company.

The central bank and financial market regulator also made a criminal report to the police.

Hungária Értékpapír has been prohibited from accepting new client orders but the oversight commissioner may close open positions in the interest of clients.

Assets managed by Hungária Értékpapír account for just 0.5% of the total managed by investment companies in Hungary. It does not manage any assets of credit institutions.
