Road haulage company Karzol-Trans laid the cornerstone of a HUF 1.6 billion logistics base on the outskirts of Budapest on Friday, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The new base is expected to double Karzol-Trans ľs revenue within two years and raise headcount by 110 to over 250, said managing director and co-owner Zolt√°n Jo√≥s. Karzol-Trans had a turnover of HUF 3 bln last year.

Jo√≥s said the investment includes 5,000 sqm of warehouse space, a fuel station, parking lot, a 400 sqm training centre and recreation area. The company took out a HUF 700 million loan for the project in the framework of the National Bank of Hungary ľs (MNB) Funding for Growth Scheme (FGS), he added.

National Economy Minister Mih√°ly Varga spoke at the ceremony. He said the government wants to help improve the competitiveness of the country ľs road haulage companies by supporting training for truck drivers, who are in short supply, reducing administrative burdens and making infrastructure investments a priority.

Karzol-Trans also signed a HUF 2.2 bln order for 100 tractor-trailers from Renault Trucks Magyarorsz√°g during the ceremony.
