General Motors has opened a regional parts distribution center in Budaőrs, just outside Budapest, the company announced on Wednesday.

The center is expected to speed up distribution of parts to mechanics in eleven countries in the region. Opel parts are already being delivered from the 15,000-square-meter center and deliveries of Chevrolet parts are expected to start from the end of this year. Alone for Opel-brand vehicles, the center stocks 10,800 different parts worth about €7 million, the statement said.
The distribution center is a joint venture between GM and Caterpillar, similar to other JVs the two companies operate in Germany and Italy. GM employs 58 people in Hungary, including those at the distribution center and its regional offices as well as service professionals.
