Firms fined for discriminating against Roma

Pharma

The government's Equal Treatment Authority (EBH) has fined two firms Ft 1.3 million (€4,700) for discriminating against Roma job seekers, the authority announced on Wednesday.

An inspection at a recruitment agency and another firm showed that none of 10 Roma applying for a semi-skilled work had made it even to the second round of a test writing during a job interview. The job agency was fined Ft 700,000 and the other firm Ft 600,000, the authority said.
The Equal Treatment Authority was established in 2004 for dealing with individual and public complaints about unequal treatment and implementing the principles of equality and nondiscrimination.
