Euro-Novex to begin operating tire-shredder

Hungarian waste-management company Euro-Novex will begin operating a Ft 2 billion (€8.49 million) in Újszilvas (C Hungary) in the middle of July.

The tire-shredder will be the largest such facility in Hungary with an annual capacity of 15,000 tons. The shredded tires will be used to make new tires as well as such rubber products such as floor mats and other vehicle parts, the business daily Világgazdaság reported on Monday.

The newspaper reported that in the next few months Euro-Novex will also begin production of artificial-turf athletic surfaces, for which shredded tire-rubber will serve as the base for turf imported from Italy.

Euro-Novex CEO Tünde Bencsik told Világgazdaság that the company, which will also provide lighting and maintenance for the athletic fields, has already received orders for five large football pitches and more than a dozen team-handball courts.

Euro-Novex generated revenue of Ft 528.5 million and after-tax profit of Ft 97.6 million in 2006, the newspaper wrote. (MTI – Econews)
