Danone halts production in Hungary
The Hungarian unit of multinational dairy producer Danone stopped its production in Hungary in June, causing the layoff of 139 employees, however, 80% have already found new workplaces, Hungarian portal agrarszektor.hu reported today.
Danone products will still be available for purchase in Hungary despite production leaving the country, the portal said. It was announced approximately a year ago that the firm would stop production in several European countries, as well as in Hungary, the portal noted.
The portal said that the firm created a “Support Center” in September to help factory workers find new jobs. The center is expected to complete operations by the end of the year and will offer training and consultations until then.
