Apollo Tyres lays cornerstone of HUF 146 bln factory

India-based Apollo Tyres today laid the cornerstone of a HUF 146 bln factory in Gyöngyöshalász, northern Hungary, which is the company’s first greenfield investment in Europe, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The investment is expected to create 975 new jobs, and as a result, the factory expects to turn out tires for 16,000 cars and 3,000 light commercial vehicles a day for the European market, including Russia and Turkey.
