Austrian-owned furniture maker ADA Hungária inaugurated a HUF 1.2 billion production hall at its base in Körmend (western Hungary) on Friday, state news wire MTI reported.

The furniture maker is investing a total of HUF 5.2 bln at its three units in Hungary (in Körmend, Zalaegerszeg and Nova), raising its 1,300 headcount by 100 with HUF 1.05 bln support for the projects from the government, said Levente Magyar, state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Ferenc Szabó, managing director of ADA Hungária, said the Körmend facility is centered on research and development, with a 35-member team working on product development, creating some 80 new designs in the past year.

The production hall covers an area of 7,500 square meters and will house offices, storage areas and a development area.

The ADA group has production facilities in Austria, Hungary and Romania. Annually the group produces 41,000 pieces of furniture, 97% of it for export. The parent founded ADA Hungária in 1992 as its first foreign subsidiary.
