Bridgestone plans HUF 9.2 bln expansion in Tatabánya
The local unit of Japanese tire maker Bridgestone will launch a HUF 9.2 billion investment at its base in Tatabánya, creating 100 jobs, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Monday, as reported by Hungarian news agency MTI.
The government will support the investment with a HUF 826 million grant, the minister added.
The company will build a 10,000 square-meter warehouse and expand production capacity to 7.2 mln units a year by 2020, Managing Director Melinda Topolcsik said. The warehouse capacity will be raised by 180,000 tires to 600,000, she added.
Bridgestone employs 1,200 people in Tatabánya at present. The facility began operations in 2008, specializing in tires for premium-category cars, passenger cars with high speed rating, and cross-country vehicles.
