Slovak Industrial Output Falls in January

Industrial production in Slovakia declined 8.6% year-on-year in January, following a downwardly revised 10.7% fall in the previous month, data released by the Bratislava-based Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR) showed on Friday.

This marked the fourth month of declining outputs, but at a softer rate compared to December amid a smaller decrease in manufacturing production (-4.4% vs -8.6%), particularly food, products, beverages & tobacco (-4.8% vs -11.7%), wood & paper products (-14.8% vs -22.5%), basic & fabricated metals (-3.1% vs -14.7%) and machinery & equipment (-2.8% vs -10.8%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output contracted 1.5% in January, data showed.
