Goodyear to procure 100% renewable energy to Slovenian plant
U.S.-based multinational tire manufacturer Goodyear plans to start procuring 100% renewable energy to its plant in Kranj, Slovenia, it said.
The company intends to purchase 700,000 MWh (megawatt-hour) of electricity generated from renewables, ensuring that manufacturing plants in Slovenia, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Turkey and the Netherlands will operate on sustainably sourced electricity, Goodyear said in a statement earlier this week.
This shift, part of a multiple-phase plan to procure 100% renewable energy in all Goodyear facilities across Europe, Middle East and Africa by the end of 2022, will reduce the company's carbon footprint by up to 260,000 tonnes, it said.
