Dunapack Packaging will start production at a HUF 20 billion cardboard plant it is building in Dunavarsány (30 km south of Budapest) at the end of 2022, the unit of Austria's Prinzhorn Group said according to hrportal.hu.

The factory will turn out 3- and 5-ply cardboard using close to 90% recycled paper. More than 100 people will work at the plant initially, but developments in the pipeline will raise headcount later.

Dunapack gets its feedstock from Hamburger Hungaria's plant in Dunaújváros (70 km south of Budapest), which in turn uses waste paper collected by Hamburger Recycling; both are members of the Prinzhorn group.

Dunapack has 24 plants in 11 countries. In Hungary, it employs more than 600 people at three factories.
