T-Mobile to invest up to Ft 10 bln in 3G, wireless networks in 2006
Wireless services company T-Mobile, the mobile unit of the Magyar Telekom group, plans to invest Ft 8 billion-Ft 10 billion in its third-generation (3G) mobile network and its wireless internet network this year, CEO János Winkler announced on Tuesday.
Winkler was speaking at a press conference called to demonstrate T-Mobile's new mobile High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) network, capable of download speeds up to 1.5 megabits per second. The network's speed is expected to increase significantly in 2007, reaching as far as 10 megabits per second.
T-Mobile has more than 4.3 million clients, giving it a 45% share of the market, and it aims to continue to offer its clients cutting-edge services, Winkler said. T-Mobile aims to install 3G HSDPA networks in Hungary's major cities within a year and a half.
