Stadler out to lure Swiss suppliers around Szolnok unit
Stadler Trains Magyarország, the Hungarian unit of the Switzerland-based Stadler, would like to see the Swiss suppliers of its FLIRT trains settle around its base in Szolnok (CE Hungary), the business daily Világgazdaság reported on Wednesday.
They will organize a conference for potential suppliers jointly with the Szolnok local council soon.
"Considering the strong Swiss franc, the suppliers' products could be more competitive if produced here", Zoltán Dunai, Stadler Rail group director for Hungary told the daily.
There are only few Hungarian SMEs which could be participate in the assembling of the FLIRT trains, Stadler found, and they are interested in raising the Hungarian content to as high as possible. The Hungarian content in the train assembling could realistically be at around 50-60%, present calculations show.
Világgazdaság reported in the spring that Stadler considers building a new assembly plant worth billions of forints in Szolnok could participate in the production of the next generation of FLIRT trains.
