Hungarian asset management company Optima Befektetési has acquired Metropolitan University (METU), a private school in Budapest, from Warsaw-based private fund CEE Equity Partners, according to business daily Világgazdaság.

Optima aims to support the university's further development and raise its international profile, METU said.

The transaction is expected to be closed in the coming week. With enrollment of around 7,000, including more than 1,000 foreign students, METU is Hungary's largest private university. It offers communications, business, tourism, and arts courses and has partnerships with almost 200 foreign peers.

Optima Befektetési manages the assets of the Pallas Athene Foundations, established by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB).
