Since the introduction of the new road toll system in January, approximately 949,000 county motorway vignettes have been sold, while 2.97 million vignettes were sold in total, generating a revenue of HUF 23.4 bln, Hungarian economic daily Napi Gazdaság reported today, according to data from toll operator NUSZ.

Approximately 600,000 of the new class of vignettes were purchased in Pest county where the capital city of Budapest is located.

Sales of monthly country vignettes dropped by 25% while sales of ten-day vignettes remained relatively unchanged, the paper noted.

With the introduction of the new system, the Hungarian government said it expected the changes to bring in an additional HUF 20 bln per year to the central budget.
