MTel commits to further network development
Magyar Telekom, the Hungarian subsidiary of telco giant Deutsche Telekom, is committed to further developing its mobile and fixed-line networks, making broadband internet access available to a an additional 200,000 households before the end of this year, CFO János Szabó said today, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
Detailing the company’s second quarter results in Hungary, published late yesterday, Szabó noted that MTel has so far reached 410,000 households, bringing the number of households with broadband access to 2.5 million. The CFO added that the company is now focusing on developing fixed-line capacities in Budapest and the surrounding area, according to MTI.
In terms of mobile network development, Telekom is expanding its 4G+ network, accessible in 13 cities in the eastern part of the country at 190 base stations, the CFO said, according to MTI. The company continues to develop its 4G network, which currently has outdoor coverage of 98% and the service is accessible in 2,800 communities in Hungary.
