MÁV passenger, traction and maintenance unit heads leave on decision of CEO
The heads of state-owned Hungarian railway company MÁV’s passenger, traction and maintenance units are leaving their posts on a decision taken by CEO Ferenc Szarvas, MÁV said on Friday.
From November 7, Zsolt Kővári will take over as CEO of passenger unit MÁV-Start, Imre Rácz will become CEO of traction unit MÁV-Trakció and András Csepke will oversee maintenance unit MÁV-Gépészet.
The decisions on the management changes aim to raise the level of service and efficiency, as well as prepare MÁV to take on tasks in the framework of a public transportation holding company, MÁV said.
Kővári will be in charged of rationalizing MÁV-Start with the aim of making at least HUF 3bn in savings a year, MÁV said.
Szarvas acknowledged the work of the units' current CEOs and offered them different positions. MÁV-Start CEO Zsolt Monszpart declined, but MÁV-Trakció CEO Imre Markus is expected to become an advisor to Szarvas and MÁV-Gépészet CEO György Zarand could take a position with MÁV-Start depending on the outcome of talks, MÁV said.
