Magyar Telekom Board appoints new senior management members

T-Online Hungary, was appointed COO of the Wireline Services Line of Business by Magyar Telekom’s Board of Directors as of September 20, 2006. He will retain his position as CEO of T-Online Hungary. Following Dr. Klaus Hartmann’s departure, the Board also decided on the appointment of Thilo Kusch as Chief Financial Officer. Thilo Kusch has been with the Deutsche Telekom Group for nearly 5 years, recently as a Senior Executive Vice President in charge of Investor Relations. Previously he worked as an equity analyst and management consultant. György Simó and Thilo Kusch currently do not hold any Magyar Telekom shares.
György Simó worked in different areas of the media between 1991 and 1998. From 1998 he ran the content services business unit of the newly emerging Matávnet Kft. (the legal predecessor of T-Online Ltd.). From December 2000 he filled the post of general deputy of the CEO responsible for the company’s media branch, strategy and communication operations, and on November 1, 2003 he was appointed CEO. When the Wireline Services Line of Business emerged on January 1, 2005, Simó was appointed to lead the Internet Division, and on May 1, 2005 he was promoted to deputy head of the Wireline Services LoB (T-Com) of Magyar Telekom. After the departure of Christopher Mattheisen, on June 15, 2006 György Simó was put in charge of T-Com as its acting head. As CEO of T-Online György Simó has been successfully running T-Com’s most dynamically growing business area, the Internet Division, and in this capacity he has played a key role in the explosive growth of broadband Internet and in the attainment of market leading position by the Origo internet portal.
