Economic research company Kopint-Datorg put GDP growth in 2006 at 4.3%, unchanged from its April forecast, but the growth forecast for 2007 was cut to 3% from 4%, the company reported on Thursday.

The 2007 forecast is still higher than the government's forecast of 2%-2.5%. The government expects its recently introduced austerity package to cause growth to slow before picking up again in 2008.
Kopint-Datorg projects annual average inflation of 3.4% in 2006, up from 2.4% forecast earlier, and 5.5% in 2007.
The company forecasts a 2006 trade deficit of €2.7 billion, down from €3.7 billion projected in April, and it puts the 2006 current account deficit at €5.6 billion, instead of €6.8 billion projected earlier.
Kopint-Datorg did not provide its own forecast for this year's public finance deficit for lack of information. Instead, it used the Finance Ministry's own forecast: 8% of expected GDP.
