IBM winds up HUF 1.5 bln expansion at Hungary service centre
IBM on Thursday wound up an almost HUF 1.5 billion expansion at its international service centre in Székesfehérvár.
The expansion, which was supported with a HUF 370 million grant, will raise the number of staff at the service centre by 180. The positions are among 450 new jobs added at the centre since 2010, said IBM Data Storage Systems managing director Zoltán Takács. IBM opened the service centre 15 years ago. It is one of eight the company operates around the world.
Péter Szíjjártó, the prime minister's state secretary for foreign affairs and trade, said the government was in talks with IBM on making the company a strategic partner. "The negotiations are proceeding well and we could soon sign the contract," he added. Mark Taylor, who heads IBM's European services unit, said the centre in Székesfehérvár offered world-class services in a cost-effective manner.
