Govt says not planning to sell MOL stake

Deals

"We have not bought MOL shares in order to sell them," the Prime Minister's Spokesman Péter Szijjártó commented on Hungary's future plans with a recently repurchased stake in energy group MOL in an interview with business weekly HVG, reports Portfolio.hu.

The statement comes as a surprise considering the fact that State Secretary Mihály Varga claimed the exact opposite only a few weeks ago.

Szijjártó said the government is aiming to give the national economy a boost and believes it is right for the state to be a shareholder in an oil company which enjoys a strong position throughout the region.
