German railway company, Deutsche Bahn, announced that it would stop key trains running between Hungary and Austria until October 4 due to strict border controls introduced following the massive influx of refugee into the European Union, AFP reported yesterday afternoon.

In the past few weeks tens of thousands of refugees flooding into the European Union have been boarding trains in Budapest or Austria bound for Munich. As a result of the influx, both Austria and Germany reinstated border controls last week.

Deutsche Bahn announced that it would suspend its long-distance routes until October 4, between Munich-Salzburg and Budapest. Passengers are being asked to choose alternate routes.
