The European Commission said today that it has cleared the acquisition of ENI Hungaria and ENI Slovenija by Hungarian oil and gas company MOL, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

Although the EC noted some overlaps of MOLʼs and ENIʼs businesses in Hungary and Slovenia, it said the acquisition would raise no competition concerns “given the small increments brought by ENI Hungaria and ENI Slovenija and the remaining strong competitors in the affected market”.

MOL announced the acquisitions last fall.
