Deals of the Year 2005

As ever, it's a mixed bag of greenfield investments, M&As, share listings and major capital injections.
After three years at the top spot, Mol Rt makes way for the sale of Budapest Airport as the year's biggest announced deal - though with all kinds of political and other threats looming, don't blame us if it falls through!
Though the deals are ranked by financial value, this was not the sole factor. Some major deals you'll find in the "And the rest" section at the end didn't make the cut because they were part of larger, longer-term investments, or struck us as largely a matter of a corporate group's internal business. We preferred to include deals of interest in terms of how they shaped their respective market - and which directly affected Hungarian business.
For simplicity's sake, in conversions we applied the rate of Ft 250 to the euro throughout.
