CP Desoutter in move to Hungary
CP Desoutter, a division of Atlas Copco, has announced plans to move the assembly part of its pneumatic power tools production from Hemel Hempstead (UK) to Hungary.
The company has said that it is to begin the consultation process with a view to moving its pneumatic power tools assembly line to a recently established plant near Budapest. The measures will result in 85 of the 200 staff losing their jobs. Fredrik Möller, business area president, Atlas Copco Industrial Technique said: “This is part of our strategy to secure a long term competitive cost structure for CP Desoutter products, rationalizing our manufacturing capability. “By moving to Hungary, we are both safeguarding our future growth prospects and lowering our cost base.”
The company said job opportunities may be available to affected staff within CP Desoutter and the wider Atlas Copco operation in Great Britain and Europe. The site at Hemel Hempstead, which is Atlas Copco’s head office in the UK, also houses Atlas Copco Compressors, Atlas Copco Construction & Mining, Atlas Copco Tools and CP Desoutter.
