Budapest city council sets taxi fares
The Budapest city council on Tuesday approved statutes on taxi service in the capital that set fares at HUF 280 per kilometer. The statutes set the base charge for passengers at HUF 450 million and the per-minute charge at HUF 70. Taxis must be no more than ten years old and meet Euro IV emissions requirements, under the new rules. Taxis must accept payment with bank cards, and all taxis must be yellow. The statutes come into force on September 1, 2013.
