The recent surge in the Swiss franc-forint exchange rate was due to the strengthening of the franc and wasn’t forint-specific, Dow Jones reported, citing an official of the Hungarian Economy Ministry.
“There’s no problem with the forint,” Roland Nátrán, a state secretary of the ministry said at a press conference.
The franc-forint rate rose to a historic high last week, testing levels around HUF 275. The cross traded at HUF 255.76 at 0742 GMT.
Meanwhile, the euro-forint rate remained relatively stable, Natran noted. Euro traded at HUF 273.68 against the forint earlier Friday.
