Used Car Imports Down Nearly 8% in August

Used car imports in Hungary fell 7.5% year-on-year to 8,977 in August, listings site JoAutok.hu said on Tuesday, citing figures compiled by DataHouse.
Used car imports were up 6pc from July, but still lagged behind the long-running 10,000-11,000 monthly average of previous years, the site noted.
In January-August used car imports fell 21pc year-on-year to 70,937.
A drop in real wages and higher interest rates affects this market particularly sensitively, but with the easing of inflationary pressure and a favourable change in the forint exchange rate, there is a chance of noticeable growth in the last months of the year, CEO Bertalan Halász said.
During the first eight months of the year, new car sales slipped 3% to 73,870.
