Tire sales in Hungary up 14.5% in H1

Hungary's passenger car tire market grew by 14.5% year-on-year in the first half of 2021, Continental Hungária said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The market declined 7% a year earlier, they added.

Sales of summer tires increased 7%, winter tires 30% and four-season tires 72%.

Within summer tires, turnover of passenger car tires rose 6%, sales of light commercial vehicle tires were unchanged and sales of SUV tires were up 9%. 

The Continental group is active in Hungary with all five of its business areas: Autonomous Mobility and Safety (AMS), Vehicle Networking and Information (VNI), tyres, ContiTech, which supplies industrial solutions, and Vitesco Technologies, which develops electromobility and powertrain technologies have bases in Budapest, Debrecen, Veszprém, Szeged, Makó, Vác, Nyíregyhaza and Budaörs.
