Swedish packaging giant Tetra Pak said Tuesday it has transformed its factory on the outskirts of Budapest into a base for the region, including Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, in addition to Hungary.

The base will be headed by Svend Weidemann, Tetra Pak's sales director for the CEE region. Two years ago, Tetra Pak invested €3.2 million to boost capacity at its plant in Hungary more than 50%. The company declined to reveal business figures from 2007, though MTI reported earlier it targeted a 3% revenue rise over €35 million in 2006. (MTI-Econews)
