Mercedes-Benz to invest HUF 400 bln at plant in Hungary
German carmaker Mercedes-Benz will spend HUF 400 billion to add new production lines at its base in Kecskemét, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Mercedes-Benz will add production for two new electric vehicle platforms in Kecskemét creating a "significant" number of jobs, Szijjártó said. The government is supporting the investment with HUF 14 bln and will also provide financial support for a training program Mercedes-Benz is launching, he added.
Szijjártó signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with plant director Christian Wolff, Mercedes-Benz's board member in charge of production Jörg Burzer, and Kecskemét Mayor Klaudia Pataki Szemerey.
