Hungary's October retail sales up 2.3% yr/yr, down 0.1 m/m
Retail sales in Hungary increased a calendar year-adjusted 2.3% year on year in October, after rising 4.5% in September, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Thursday.
The figure slightly above the average 2.2% growth of retail sales volume in the EU-25 in October. October retail sales in Hungary fell 0.1% from September according to seasonally- and working day-adjusted data. Retail sales totaled Ft 543.7 billion (€2.148 billion) in October at current prices. In the first ten months of 2006, retail sales increased a calendar year-adjusted 4.7% year on year in volume terms and totaled Ft 4,781.7 billion at current prices. Retail sales volume rose 5.6% both in 2004 and 2005.
In line with EU methodology, the figures do not include sales of vehicles, vehicle parts or fuel. Retail fuel sales volume rose 2.9% year on year in October and 8.6% year on year in January-October. Sales of cars and car parts were down 3.2% in October but were still up 2.0% in January-October compared to the same respective periods a year earlier. Retail sales, including cars, components and fuel, increased 1.5% year on year in October and 4.6% in January-October. (Mti-Eco)
