Hungary's July retail sales up 4.0% yr/yr

The Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Friday that adjusted retail sales volume for the EU-25 increased 3.3% year-on-year in July. July retail sales in Hungary rose 0.3% from June, according to seasonally- and working day-adjusted data. Retail sales totaled Ft 518.1 billion (€1.879 billion) in July at current prices. In the first seven months of 2006, retail sales increased a calendar year-adjusted 5.1% year-on-year in volume terms and totaled Ft 3,175.5 billion at current prices. In line with EU methodology, the figures do not include sales of vehicles, vehicle parts or fuel. Retail fuel sales volume rose 9.0% year-on-year in July and 10.4% year-on-year in January-July. Sales of cars and car parts were down 3.8% in July and were up 4.6% in January-July compared to the same respective periods a year earlier. Retail sales, including cars, components and fuel, increased 2.8% year-on-year in July and 7.0% in January-July. (Mti-Eco)
