Hungary has issued more than 53,000 green license plates for fully electric and hybrid vehicles, the Ministry of Technology and Industry said in a post on Facebook this week.

The ministry said that the number of green number plates has more than tripled since early 2020. It added that about 53% of vehicles with green plates are fully electric.

The green number plates were launched late in 2015. Hungary's government has earmarked some HUF 20 billion in support for EV purchases in recent years.
