Hungarian highway vignette fines reached HUF 2.5 bln last year

Approximately 276,000 motorists paid about HUF 2.5 bln in fines last year for failing to purchase highway tickets that would make them eligible to use Hungarian highways, local business daily Világgazdaság reported today.
Citing data from NUSZ, which sells and controls the vignettes, the daily said that passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles traveling on Hungarian highways without vignettes are fined approximately HUF 15,000, in the event that vehicle owners pay the fine within 30 days.
