Exports rise, domestic sales drop bring industrial output up 3.0% yr/yr in Sept

Hungary’s industrial output rose a calendar-adjusted 3.0% year-on-year in September after edging down 0.4% in August, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Tuesday as export growth picked up slightly and domestic sales continued to decline sharply yr/yr.

Unadjusted output was also up 3.0% year-on-year in September, after climbing 4.5% in August. Seasonally- and workday-adjusted output was up 3.9% in September, after falling 1.2% in August.

All output figures were unchanged from the preliminary figures published on November 8.

Domestic sales fell 7.1% yr/yr in September after a 8% yr/yr drop in August, dropping now for the 12th month in a row, calendar-adjusted figures show.

Export sales rose a calendar-adjusted 4.1% in the twelve months to September, slightly more than the 3.5% rise in August.

In a seasonally and workday-adjusted month-on-month comparison domestic sales dropped 0.5% and export sales dropped 0.6% in September.

Industrial output rose 6.2% in January-September from the same period a year earlier as domestic sales dropped 5.2% and export sales rose 9.1% in the period.
