Bombardier may set up international competency center in Hungary
Canada's Bombardier is considering establishing an international competency centre at its base in Dunakeszi, near Budapest, for the renovation of rolling stock and the production of low-floor passenger cars, but it would be important to see first a long-term political plan for the restructuring of the country's railways together with state-owned railway company MÁV, Bombardier Transportation service division head Laurent Troger said in Dunakeszi on Thursday.
It would pay more for Hungary to renovate passenger cars and buy engines rather than buy multiple units, Troger said. Hungary would also profit from the jobs created, he added.
Bombardier employs 1,300 people at its plants in Dunakeszi and Mátranovák (NE Hungary), making it the biggest employer in the country's rolling stock manufacturing industry.
