Average Age of Cars in Hungary Surpasses 15 Years

The average age of cars in Hungary climbed to 15.1 years by the end of H1 2022 from 14.8 years at the end of June 2021, state news wire MTI reports, citing data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

The number of cars reached 4.08 million, up from 3.99 million a year before.

Car registration numbers edged down 1% to 126,400 in H1, with 64,000 registrations in Q1 and 62,400 in Q2. Some 53% of registrations were for used cars in H1.

In the first half of the year, the leading brand for passenger cars was Volkswagen with 12,900 registrations, followed by Toyota with 11,400 registrations, and by Ford with 10,700 registrations.
