German carmaker Audi will add a HUF 120 billion electric drive plant at its base in Győr, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The government is supporting the investment, which will create 500 jobs, with a HUF 8.5 bln grant, Szijjártó said.

Audi Hungaria will start turning out the Volkswagen group's latest electric motors at the plant in 2025.

Szijjártó said that around 13,000 people work at Audi Hungaria, but, including its local suppliers, the company provides livelihoods for around 25,000 households. He noted that the plant started serial production of electric motors in 2018.
