2/3 of Hungarians Underestimate Car Repair Costs

Automotive

Some 66% of Hungarians underestimate the repair costs of basic damage and minor accidents to their cars, according to a recent representative survey commissioned by the Cristo application, writes profitline.hu.

The most striking difference was when the car was hit by another vehicle, and as a result, several elements were damaged, such as the rear bumper and the two rear lights.

Only 7% of the respondents with their own vehicle realistically estimated that the cost of such a repair would exceed HUF 1 million, but the vast majority of them significantly underestimated the expected expenses.

Roughly 60% thought it would only amount to half of the actual repair cost or that the total would be less.

Unpleasant surprises due to a significant increase in service hourly rates and parts prices can be offset by well-calculated insurance. Today there is a scheme on the market where the customer only has to pay a fixed deductible in the event of damage, Cristo added.
