i-Cell signs contract to build e-toll
Hungary's i-Cell has signed a contract to build a national electronic toll system, daily Népszabadság said on Friday, without citing any sources. i-Cell had after-tax profit HUF 27 mln on revenue of HUF 421 mln in 2011, public records show. A tender to build the e-toll system failed in January, but the government has since mandated a new timeframe to ensure the deadline for the toll's introduction – July 1, 2013 – is met. The government issued a decree in March declaring the e-toll system a matter of "national security", thus establishing an exemption from public procurement rules. The central budget targets HUF 75 billion in revenue from the system in the second half of this year.
