Gyulai Szalámi, a product considered the flagship of Hungarian meat firm Gyulahús, once again won a two-star Superior Taste Award from the International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi), according to reports published yesterday.

Speaking yesterday after receiving the award, Gyulahús managing director Zsolt Daka said he hoped the award would support the firmʼs sales in Western Europe, according to Hungarian news agency MTI. Currently, the companyʼs main export markets are Slovakia, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, the director noted.

With this award, the company can use the acknowledgement on its product labels for three years. The acknowledgment of iTQi is granted by a jury made up of 15 European culinary and sommelier associations following blind taste tests.

Gyulahús, based in Gyula, had a net income of HUF 514 million on revenue of HUF 5 billion last year, public records show, according to MTI, with exports accounting for HUF 929 mln of turnover.
